Like meeting someone at a party who proclaims they know you, a somewhat confused Garrus tries to recall their previous encounter. Stumbling over names and events, they finally realize that they do indeed know each other from diplomatic endeavors between their respective clans. As The Heroes regroup and ready themselves, they entrust the bound Brugor to Bruno, even though Mortos advocates for his death.
Lupin immediately scampers off to the right. Using her spider boots, the Cunning Cutpurse climbs the mezzanine and heads toward the rear of the crypt. A frustrated Garrus hisses after the Tiefling Thief, telling her to wait, but she is already gone. To’Mas and Garrus then each flank the dais and approach from the left and right.
Terrible tentacles tear out of their faces; their eyes bulge out into obscene obsidian orbs; their fingers and limbs elongate as their flesh morphs into a slimy, hairless, gray patina. Lyla’s adventurers then rise as an army of freshly-born Mind Flayers. The Heroes now realize what would have been in store for them if they hadn’t broken the illusion they were under (see Ever After?).
Meanwhile, seeing a shadowy figure lurking behind the dais, Lupin leaps down from the mezzanine only to confront a ginormous Mind Flayer.
With Ffion safe on the other side of the thorn wall, To’Mas and Mortos burst through the briered brambles and engage the enemies on the left, while Garrus and Bruno attack the right flank. Unbeknownst to the rest of The Heroes, Lupin and Willow are alone in a deadly duel with the Mind Flayer Boss.
On their own, Willow flanks the Boss, as Lupin uses her patented strategy of dodging between his legs while slicing at his nether regions. The Furious Flayer finally forces her out and begins to bludgeon her with psychic blast after blast. Between To’Mas and Garrus’ marking their opponents and Mortos and Ffion’s damaging area effects that the Evil Invertebrates are unable to evade, the Mind Flayers are eventually bloodied. Bruno begins to find his stride and begins bludgeons them with his Barbaric Brawn. One by one, the Mind Flayers begin to fall, but the Evil Emissaries still emit immense injuries to The Heroes, at one point forcing To’Mas to strike himself. Ffion crosses over and joins the confrontation as Mortos lets his wall fall. The Heroes then surround the final three Flayers and pummel the life out of them. Lupin unleashes all of her most powerful dailies and is able to overpower her Inky Adversary with amazingly high blow after blow. |

To be continued? ? ?
Lupin once again impulsively split the party. Venturing forth on her own, she encountered, and managed to defeat the Boss Mind Flayer on her own. Garrus’ frustration with Lupin’s impulsiveness continues to grow. Trying to work out battle strategies is difficult when everyone is not cooperating. He and To’Mas seem to be on the same page when readying for battle. Ffion actually threw caution to the wind when she heard the sound of people suffering. Usually one to hold back, the Caring Cleric put the needs of others before her own safety. Mortos’ anger and suspicion of Brugor showed he was more effected by last sessions events that he let on. Was it anger that Brugor was able to fool him, or anger that the illusions weren’t real? To’Mas proved to be the pragmatic soldier in battle. Flanking with Garrus and Mortos’ wall allowed them to place the Mind Flayers in a pincher’s movement that proved quite effective. His proclamation to Dimva shows that judgement may be swift at the start of next session. Bruno made his debut as a well-mannered Barbarian. His politeness was off-set by the massive amounts of damage he produced. And, does he have a crush on one of The Heroes??? Bravo to all!!!
