This year I will again take on Drawing the Monster Manual—26 creatures from A to Z. I will showcase 26 pencil drawings I sketched between February till today (I am on S as of this writing). If they look somewhat familiar, they are all based on illustrations from the D&D and Pathfinder Monster Manuals. I will critique each one, as well as give tips on how it was drawn. I will also include humorous reasons as to why it is important to learn to draw that particular monster. Also included will be in-progress images. I documented more steps with each the further I went along.
It was an even more interesting journey than my first foray back into drawing. Not having drawn since 2020, I was worried that my skills may have atrophied and any gains I had made might have vanished. Oddly enough, I feel like my skills and confidence have greatly improved. My lines are sharper and less sketchy than before. The more I drew, the bolder I became. I will also have a reflection page in May to summarize what I learned and how it affected me. Please join me and feel free to comment as we embark on this journey of re-discovery.
