Three players were present:
- Greg
Male, Human Pirate - Finzal
Male, Trandoshan Pirate - Tamara
Female, Farghul Pirate
Near the service door, the remaining two droids split up. One attacks Tamara, while the other heads toward Finzal. Greg destroys the first droid at the top of the stairs, but the second continues to advance. Finzal decides to try to capture a droid intact. Pounding at the droid’s chestplate, the Rampaging Reptile tries to access his internal controls. Unfortunately, the chassis proves too strong and the droid begins to pummel Finzal.
With all of the Battle Droids out of commission, the three pirates are able to take a rest and re-converge. All of the Pirate have been wounded; Finzal is down to his last hp. Hearing music coming from a small cantina down the street, the pirates are reluctant to investigate until they are healed up. Entering a small office, Greg believes that there should be a first aid kit if HR is doing their job. Upon finding the kit, they are able to restore Finzal to near full-health.
Seeing their shocked faces, Euro laughs and asks if the Jawa even offered three thousand credits for him. Greg asks why the Jawa wants him. Euro says that he wants to take over his business. Emptying a bag of credits on the bar, he then offer’s them ten thousand up-front to bring him the head of the Jawa. Greg takes this seriously and asks for a knife. Euro tries to dissuade him by explaining that it is just an expression, but Greg is committed to bringing the Jawa’s head back. All three pirates agree to Euro’s offer and take the credits, as they head back to find their former employer.
A newly commissioned Colonel Niven exits from the Imperial Command Base. Addressing Stormtroopers TK-616 and BE-114, he tells them that he is being sent to the Outer Rim on a special mission for the Empire. The only problem is that he will need two junior officers to accompany him. He asks if Lieutenant TK-616 and Lieutenant BE-114 will join him. Both Troopers snap to attention and reply: “Yes Sir”.
Thoughts on this Session: Three players joined our Pirate themed adventure this session. The battles in this session were remarkable for the lack of damage inflicted! EVERYONE rolled so poorly that dice were quickly and constantly exchanged in an attempt to end the poor rolls. The battle with the Droids probably took four times as long as it should have. I must admit that I was surprised at how quickly all three players agreed to not only void their deal with the Jawa, but actually turn on him! It will be interesting to see the outcome of this decision.
As a bonus, we revisited our Imperial friends from last session (Trouble on Tatooine). Bringing in Cord Candor must have been important, since all three of our protagonist have now been promoted. I wonder what’s awaiting them in the Outer Rim?
Rules of Engagement: The figures and fighting stats are from the Star Wars Miniatures game published by Wizards of the Coast in the early 00's. Stats have been slightly modified to give PCs more hp. These will be quick half-hour sessions before our usual monthly D&D session. Players lose some agency, as I explain the scenario (much like the Star Wars movie scroll) and plop them into the action. However, they still get to choose their miniature, name, personality, etc. so there is still a lot of room for role-playing. Each session will feature different characters from across the Star Wars spectrum. Although each session will be a stand-alone chapter, characters will return and storylines will overlap as we see PCs and plots advance. As always, your comments are welcome.
