Why you should practice drawing Thri Keens: All together: Anthropomorphic beast men. Whether human-sized or giant-sized, insects and anthropomorphic insects are a combo of fright/disgust/and fascination. Alien looking compared to our mammalian and reptilian brethren, perhaps we subconsciously fear them as one of the final stages of our mortality, as they often have the task of breaking down the remains of the deceased. From John Carter’s Barsoom (from which these are absolutely inspired from), Antz, James and the Giant Peach, Men in Black, Star Wars, A Bugs Life, The Fly, and Jiminy Cricket, humanoid insects can be frightening or friendly in any genres.
