The Feywild is home to many fantastic peoples, including fairies. Fairies are a wee folk, but not nearly as much so as their pixie and sprite friends. The first fairies spoke Elvish, Goblin, or Sylvan, and encounters with human visitors prompted many of them to learn Common as well. Infused with the magic of the Feywild, most fairies look like Small elves with insectile wings, but each fairy has a special physical characteristic that sets the fairy apart. —D&D Beyond Faries entered the D&D pantheon Fairy-ly recently. I guess Halflings and Gnomes just weren't tiny enough? Their diminutive size, wings, and magic make them a good choice, especially if you are a mischievous role player. Nice in-flight pose and great translucent wings. Six in-progress pictures below. |
Why you should practice drawing Faries: Though new to D&D, Faries have been a part of fantasy and folklore forever. Faries, elves, and gnomes are the epitome of Fey creatures. Knowing how to draw them will aways come in handy in fantasy art. Plus, what other character allows you to perfect rendering insect wings ?
