Henrick, Male Human Warlock
Enuffdain, Male Elf Paladin
Lupin Damakos, Female Tiefling Rogue + Willow, Cat Animal Companion
Torek, Male Dwarf Cleric
Traveling through unfamiliar woods, The Heroes notice the terrain becoming marshy. Roots and tendrils begin to encumber their every movement. They eventually find themselves bogged down in difficult terrain.
Searching for treasure, Lupin is repulsed as two giant swarms of Rats emerge from the Crocodile’s innards. More disgusting than anything, the rabid rodents are quickly dispatched by The Heroes. Further searching reveals mass amounts of gold in the Crocodilian bellies.
Amongst the gold, The Heroes find an ancient scroll engraved with many puns about Easter:
HORRIBLE EASTER PUN NUMBER 1: Sailor’s Made-up Story.*
HORRIBLE EASTER PUN NUMBER 2: History Done.**
HORRIBLE EASTER PUN NUMBER 3: Irish Women’s Dinner.***
HORRIBLE EASTER PUN NUMBER 4: Drilling for Seven Days.****
HORRIBLE EASTER PUN NUMBER 5: Chinese Appetizer.*****
HORRIBLE EASTER PUN NUMBER 6: Palindromic Chick.******
Sword and sorcery, claw and fang, magic and muscle, the opposing adversaries unleash their full furry against each other. Slowly but surely, the tide of combat shifts in The Heroes favor as the undead warriors begin to fall. Hendrick cast a cloud of darkness that envelopes an area, where Captain Jack and some Skeletons are, in a dense fog.
Before anyone can react, Raven Redwing (long time NPC) appears and pours an antidote over Enuff’s stone effigy, restoring him to life. Then, just as quickly, she leaps into the lingering cloud of darkness and vanishes°.
With only Big Chick and one Basilisk and one Skeleton remaining, The Heroes, with the rejuvenated Enuff, make short work of the remaining emissaries of evil.
A powerful Immolith towers above them at the altar. The Heroes brace for battle, but before they can act, they are all encompassed by unholy Hellfire that seems to consume everyone in the temple. With a demonic laugh and a blinding flash of light, the fiery Fiend vanishes; the temple stands deserted°.
Captain Jack stumbles out of the dissipating cloud of darkness into the now abandoned tomb. The acrid taste of sulfur and burning stench of brimstone provide the only evidence that anyone was ever there.
* Sailor’s Made-up Story: Sailor’s = crew; made-up story = fiction – Crew’s fiction (Crucifixion).
** History Done: History = past; done = over – Past Over (Passover).
*** Irish Women’s Dinner: Irish women = lass; dinner = supper – Lass (Last) Supper.
**** Drilling for Seven Days: Drilling = holes; seven days = week – Holey (Holy) Week.
***** Chinese Appetizer: Egg Roll.
****** Palindromic Chick: Palindromic = same forward and back; chick = peep – Peep.
Each Player received a random Drama Card for solving a pun.
° These events were inspired by Drama cards. I am so glad players are, finally, actively using them. They get at least one per pun, usually two a session, so they each have quite a few.
